What's included
What good pruning covers. Scoped in a free written estimate before any work begins.
- Structural pruning that builds a strong branch framework
- Crown thinning so wind and light pass through
- Crown raising for clearance over roofs, drives, and walks
- Deadwood removal before it drops on its own
- Clearance trimming off service lines and gutters
- Storm-prep thinning ahead of lake-effect season
When to call
Signs a tree is due for pruning.
Timing matters in Western New York: most species respond best to late-winter dormant pruning, before spring growth and after the worst ice. Summer is for clearance and thinning ahead of storm season. One thing we never do is top a tree - topping creates weak regrowth that fails in exactly the storms you were worried about.
- Branches resting on the roof or rubbing the siding
- Dead limbs dropping twigs and bark on the lawn
- A crown so dense the yard below will not grow grass
- Broken hangers left over from the last windstorm
- No professional pruning in the last five or more years
We'll take a look and give you a straight answer — the assessment is free.

Questions
Common questions about trimming & pruning.
01When is the best time to prune?
Late winter for most species - the tree is dormant and the branch structure is easy to read. Dead or hazardous limbs should come off whenever you notice them, in any season.
02How often should mature trees be pruned?
Every three to five years for most mature yard trees. Young trees benefit from more frequent structural pruning that prevents problems later.
03Will you top my tree?
No - topping wrecks a tree's structure and invites decay and weak regrowth. We reduce and thin crowns the right way, keeping the tree healthy and the reduction lasting.
