Barden Tree — tree removal, trimming and emergency services
(716) 419-5454

Save the tree worth saving.

Not every weak tree needs to come down. Cables and brace rods support split trunks and heavy limbs, so a beloved old maple gets to stay standing through the next storm - safely.

What's included

How we support a tree. Scoped in a free written estimate before any work begins.

  • Honest assessment - support only when it will actually work
  • High-strength cables installed in the upper crown
  • Brace rods for split or splitting trunks
  • Weight-reduction pruning to take load off weak unions
  • Hardware placed to protect the tree as it grows
  • Re-inspection guidance so the system keeps doing its job

When to call

Trees that are candidates.

Buffalo's old silver maples are famous for codominant trunks - two or three stems rising from one base with a weak union between them. Under snow load or a lake-effect gale, that union is where they fail. Installed early, a cable system costs a fraction of a removal and keeps the shade you have waited decades for.

  • A V-shaped double trunk with a tight, weak union
  • A visible crack starting at a major fork
  • One heavy limb stretched over the house or patio
  • A storm-split tree you are not ready to lose
  • Old cables that have not been inspected in years

Questions

Common questions about cabling & bracing.

01Does cabling really save the tree?

For the right tree, yes - a cable system shares the load between stems so a weak union is not carrying a storm alone. If the tree is too far gone, we will tell you straight and talk through removal instead.

02How long does the hardware last?

Quality systems last many years, but they should be inspected every few years and after major storms - trees grow, and the system needs to grow with them.

03Cable it or remove it - how do we decide?

It comes down to the tree's overall health, what is under it, and what failure would hit. We assess honestly during the free estimate - saving trees is the better outcome when it is a safe one.
